A happy carefree Will 
As we stepped onto the platform, Will said "Mum do you know which way to go."  "Will, I wouldn't have a clue, do you?" To my horror he replied no!!  All signs were in Japanese.  Will can be a great actor when necessary. I think he was testing me as we soon found daylight.  We were in the largest station in the world.  

 Greater Tokyo area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world.  It is the seat of the Emperor of Japan and the Japanese government. Tokyo is in the Kanto region on the soujtheastern side of the main island Honshu and includes the Izu Islands and Ogasawara Islands. The city became the capital after Emperor Meiji moved his seat to the ity from the old capital of Kyoto in 1868 =; at that time Edo was renamed Tokyo.  
Underground station. Every wall has a picture of a famous person. Also advertisements for many things including love.  
All very clean.

Will is a great person to travel with.. He is so good at organising everything without fuss.  After electronically purchasing tickets, he bought a nicely packaged tray of a variety of Japanese cuisine to have on the train that travels at 200 ks. per hour.  Everyone is very punctual. Seats were comfortable, air conditioning comfortable and wide windows gave us a perfect view of the lush countryside.  we weren't aware of travelling at great speed. Naturally, rice was the main crop. Note there is no shortage of water.  Very tasty tucker

KYOTO RAILWAY STATION.

Before leaving beautiful Kyoto on the bullet train to Tokyo, we got the lift to the view platform circling a very very tall building next to the train station.  What a view, giving a good idea of the city.   Add caption APPARENTLY MOST RESIDENTS OPPOSED THE BUILDING OF THE NEW STATION WHICH HAS NOW PROVED VERY POPULAR.   A PARKING LOT IN THE RAIL STATION. TAXIS ARE BLACK. ALL SEATS ARE COVERED WITH WHITE EMBROIDERY FABRIC.   ON EACH OF THREE FLOORS ABOVE THE STATION IS A STAGE WHERE ORCHESTRAS, MOSTLY MADE UP OF SCHOOL CHILDREN,  PERFORM DAILY.  FOUND MYSELF SINGING TO A GLEN MILLER PIECE AS WE WENT ON THE ESCALATOR TO THE NEXT LEVEL.  A WEDDING WAS TAKING PLACE ON ONE SECTION OF THE TOP LEVEL. FIrst day in Koyto

After our egg sandwich and coffee we walked to the foot of the mountain beside the city.  So many beautiful trees covered with moss. I Didn't realise there are so many varieties of moss.  T emples and simply designed gardens lined the winding path beside a small stream.   SO MANY VARIETIES OF MOSS GINKAKUJI GARDENS  GINKAKUJI TEMPLE  GATE TO HONEN-IN TEMPLE  I DIDN'T COUNT THE STEPS TO THE TOP OF THE TEMPLE.  THE CHAIN INSTEAD OF A DOWN PIPE FOR REMOVING WATER   THE ENTRANCE TO A COUPLE OF MILES OF WALK WAY WINDING  UP A STEEP HILL .  MORE WISHES  WISHES AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE WALK.
