NARA- OUR LAST DAY. ... JUNE, 2008

Image
Nara is the capital of Japan's Nara Prefecture, in south-central Honshu. The city has significant temples and artwork, dating to the 8th century when it was Japan's capital.  Deer roam in Nara park, site of Todai-ji temple. Todai-ji"s 15m-high bronze Buddha, is displayed in a large wooden hall. On the park's wast side is the Shinto shrine Kasuga Taisha, which dates to 768A.D. and more than 3,000 lanterns.   SCHOOL CHILDREN APPROACHED US AND POLITELY ASKED IF THEY COULD ASK QUESTIONS AS THEY WERE STUDYING ENGLISH AT SCHOOL.  AM IMPRESSIVE WATER FEATURE  VERY FRIENDLY DEER We left beautiful Nara Park late in the afternoon to get a slow train to Narita Airport. Again the country side was beautiful.  I have very fond memories of five fun filled days with Will in Japan.  A beautiful country with friendly people.
